To some he was a conman accused of marrying Brittany Murphy for a visa, but to others Simon Monjack was a highly intelligent, generous man who spent his final months heartbroken from the death of his wife.
Simon gave his final interview to RadarOnline.com just days before he died and typical of his final months, he talked mainly about Brittany.
“I don’t think you understand how much my wife and I loved each other. I can only wish you that closeness with another human being,” he told RadarOnline.com reporter Amber Goodhand.
Simon and Goodhand became friendly after Murphy’s tragic death and in his final interview Simon also talked about putting together a memorial for the six-month anniversary of Brittany’s passing. Brittany died December 20, 2009.

“I want to do something special for Brittany to honor her memory,” he told RadarOnline.com. “I’m hoping the foundation will be in place by then.”
Simon was trying to set up a non-profit foundation in Brittany’s name to benefit children and arts education.
But he also expressed how weary he was of press criticism. “I am tired of being misjudged and my motives questioned,” he told Goodhand.
In the same interview he said that he was trying to move forward and focus on his photography. “It’s my passion,” he said.
Monjack was found dead Sunday night in his Hollywood Hills home. The Huffington Post said an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

But he also expressed great worry about Brittany’s mother Sharon, saying she wasn’t’ well physically and wasn’t dealing well with the loss of Brittany.
“Brittany was my world and Sharon was Brittany’s world,” he told RadarOnline.com during the final interview. “That made it important for me to take care of Sharon after Brittany was gone.”
EXCLUSIVE: Brittany Murphy's Brother "Not Shocked" By Simon Monjack's Death
Simon and Sharon clung to each other in grief during the months after Brittany’s death. And although he still sometimes went out – attending a Hollywood party, having dinner with Goodhand at Chateau Marmont recently – Simon always seemed like he wasn’t completely in the moment.
He tried to cover his pain with humor but ultimately failed. One of the last things he said to RadarOnline.com’s Goodhand was: “I hope you find the kind of love that I lost.”
