Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott hit the road in an effort to strengthen their marriage in the season premiere of Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood on Monday.
The episode opened with Tori and Dean realizing they’ve been putting their kids and careers before their marriage. So to put the focus back on their relationship, they pack the kids and the Guncles (Tori’s best gay friends) into a rented RV and decide to take a cross-country road trip to visit their old nanny Patsy.

“Sometimes I feel like the well is dry and I’m not there for her,” Dean says at one point.
During their road trip, Tori and Dean disagree on how to spend their time on the road. Tori wants to shop and camp, while Dean prefers sleeping in hotels and wants to hit all the tourist sites.
The family visits an ostrich farm that sells petrified rock in Winslow, Arizona, where Tori has a Jessica Simpson moment trying to understand what a meteorite is.
In Amarillo, Texas, the group heads to dinner at “The Big Texan” where Dean attempts to eat a 72 ounce steak in under an hour. He (burp) almost makes it.
The couple, whose relationship has received a lot of press scrutiny in the days before the show premiered, argues about whether to continue on for another four hours to Dallas.
While in Dallas, the McDermotts meet up with Tori’s cousin Sam who takes them to the neighborhood where Tori’s famous dad Aaron Spelling grew up. It’s a sentimental moment when Sam takes Tori to the site of her dad’s childhood home.
“To know that this is where my dad grew up…it was special. It was like being there with him,” she said.
