What are you going to watch on TV this fall? It’s not too early to start planning, and the Discovery Communication Upfront presentation on Thursday in Los Angeles showcased new shows, favorite shows, a show about Mike Tyson and his pigeons and even a new network by Oprah Winfrey.
Animal Planet is airing Taking On Tyson, a show where former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson explores the competitive world of pigeon racing. Oprah Winfrey is staring her own network OWN, where her reality TV show will air. Behind the Scenes: The Oprah Show Final Season will show the last year of taping her beloved daytime talk show.
RadarOnline.com spoke exclusively with stars from some of the most popular shows on cable and they each were passionate about their upcoming seasons.
Paul Watson of Whale Wars gave RadarOnline.com the good news about the number of whales they saved in the upcoming season. “We actually saved more whales than the Japanese killed so we’re quite happy about that. We saved 528 and they killed 507.” The bad news was that one of his crew is in prison now. “He was a captain of the boat that was sunk by the Japanese so they sink his ship and they charged him with trespassing when he went on board.”
Whaling is a profitable business and Paul celebrated the repercussions the Japanese suffered from the decreased whaling. “One whale can be worth half a million dollars, we figure we cost them $132 million in losses and they’re certainly not happy about that.”
Shorty Rossi and his Pit Bull Hercules were at the presentation. “Shortywood is a talent management company just for little people,” Rossi told RadarOnline.com. “The profits help out Shorty’s rescue which is our goal not to be a boarding facility or a kennel facility but to help rescue dogs, and to do what this breed needs, which is breed awareness.”
