Miley Cyrus' Style Evolution: From Role Model To Racy

Miley Cyrus skyrocketed to fame overnight, with her hugely successful Disney show Hannah Montana. But while her teen peers, like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato were dressing in age appropriate threads, Billy Ray Cyrus’ spawn controversially pushed the a la mode envelope. With the The Last Song hitting the big screen on Wednesday, what better time to take a look at the teen superstar’s sassy style evolution?
When Miley stepped out of her Dad’s Achy Breaky shadow, she was only thirteen, and she became an instant hit with the kids. With her gorgeous “All American” looks, fun onscreen presence and quirky personality, Miley fit the Disney role model to perfection.
Within a year of taking over the Hannah Montana persona, the coming of age teen was shortening her hemlines and showing off her figure in curve-hugging ensembles. While people began to talk, questioning her role model status, controversy exploded in April 2008, when the then 15-year-old posed topless for the cover of Vanity Fair with acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Over the past month, Miley has lightened up the racy threads, stepping out in gorgeously sophisticated gowns from Jenny Packham and Thomas Wylde, adding a new accessory to her arm, her hunky Last Song costar, Aussie Liam Hemsworth.
