Corey Haim Dead Of An Accidental Drugs Overdose
In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com Fields shares her memories of Corey, talks about her shock at his sudden death and tells of his generosity, including one time he donated all his money to an animal shelter.
"Corey loved animals, especially dogs," Fields tells RadarOnline.com. "He was devastated when he had to give away his bull mastive when he moved to the US from Canada. He loved that dog so much, was always talking about him and even had his name tattooed on his arm.
"I remember one time Corey had spent the day at an autograph signing and even though he was completely broke at the time, when he got paid at the end of the day he went straight to Petco and blew all the cash on dog bones and toys.

"Then Corey went to an animal shelter in Anaheim and he handed out the bones to the dogs, he personally made sure that each and every dog had a bone and a toy. He was such a sweetheart like that and totally generous - to a fault."
Fields shares that he wasn't just generous with his money, he was also generous with his time - especially when it came to his fans. "I remember we were having dinner at Jerry's Deli once and a young guy came over and asked for his autograph. Corey invited the guy and his friend to join us for dinner, and insisted on paying the check. The guy was beyond thrilled, but that was just what Corey was like."
Fields, who has known Corey since she was 15, and dated him for a period of time, says she was totally shocked by Corey's death, especially as the last time she spoke to him he was in an upbeat and positive frame of mind, and she was convinced that after years of struggling with addiction, he was finally clean and sober.
"If I had heard a few years back that Corey had died I wouldn't of been surprised, but he had worked really hard at being sober, and was, as far as I know, completely clean around the time that he died.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: I Thought Drugs Were In The Past Says Director Of Corey's Upcoming Movie
"When I last spoke to him he sounded great, he had really cleaned up his act and he spoke clearly and coherently, I'm convinced he was sober. He was really happy and upbeat and really positive about the future. When Heath Ledger died Corey was really devastated and I think that acted as a great wake-up call for him.
"I just hope it was his heart problem and that it wasn't a drugs overdose, but I guess we will have to wait till the results come out before we know for definite.
