Chaz Bono Turns To Transgender Law Center For Help

Chaz Bono has taken another step towards completing his gender reassignment, filing papers to legally change his name and gender. RadarOnline.com has learned that he hired a lawyer from the Transgender Law Center to handle the process.
"Chaz Bono has filed a formal petition in California Superior Court to legally change his name and gender," Chaz Bono’s Attorney Dina LaPolt, told RadarOnline.com. "He is legally changing his name from Chastity to Chaz as part of his gender transition."

The child of Cher and the late Sonny Bono, Chaz's birth name is Chastity Sun Bono.
In the papers filed on March 24, Chaz is also requesting a new birth certificate reflecting the name and gender change. A lawyer from the Transgender Law Center in San Francisco, Calif., dealt with the legal logistics for Chaz.

Also included was a letter from Chaz's doctor confirming that a gender reassignment surgery had been completed.
