Weight is one of the most talked about topics in Hollywood, with actresses under scrutiny seemingly for every pound they gain or lose. And America Ferrera has been placed in the middle of that pubic conversation – but not by her choice.

"I don't really think about it to be honest. It's not hard to ignore, because I find it all so ridiculous," she told PopEater in a recent interview that covered the weighty topic. Not only has America starred in Ugly Betty but she was also in HBO’s Real Women Have Curves. That seems to have put her in the forefront of Hollywood’s weight obsession.

And although she has lost weight since Real Women Have Curves, she tells PopEater it was NOT due to public or media pressure.

“To spend any time at all thinking about the bad or good things written about me is such a waste of time and energy. I hope to have a career based on the work I do and not whether a gossip site says I look good or bad in a dress," she said.

She goes on to point out that she sees Hollywood split between the world of acting and the world of beauty. Luckily, she says, good work still counts and a great actress can change perceptions.
