It's official - Sunday's Super Bowl XLIV broadcast was a bona fide smash hit for airing network CBS.

According to estimates released by the Nielson Co over 106.5 million viewers tuned in to watch the New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts.

And it's a significant rise on last years viewing figures, when 98.7 million viewers tuned in.
