Kiefer Sutherland Surgery Halts 24 Production

The hit show 24 has temporarily halted production while star Kiefer Sutherland is having elective surgery RadarOnline.com has learned. The actor, 43, had the surgery for a ruptured cyst that is near one of his kidneys.
According to reports, the cyst ruptured early last week but production continued until Friday without Sutherland.

"We are temporarily suspending production of 24 while our friend and colleague Kiefer Sutherland undergoes a medical procedure," the network said in a statement. "We hope to resume production shortly and do not anticipate any disruption in the broadcast of this season's episodes."

Kiefer Cracks A Head-Butt Joke To Reporters
The surgery is not considered serious and Kiefer will resume his Jack Bauer role shortly.
A rep for Sutherland said: "While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and FOX decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps. He looks forward to returning to work (this) week."
