A presumably-satisfied Jay Leno went easy on NBC in his monologue Tuesday evening, as speculation grew that given Conan O’Brien’s refusal to host a Tonight Show that aired at 12:05 a.m., the Peacock Network would likely give Leno his coveted Tonight Show chair back from O' Brien.
Leno kicked off with a joke about Nevada Senator Harry Reid's recent racial gaffe toward President Barack Obama, claiming Reid these days "is apologizing more than NBC affiliates."

Leno continued, "As I'm sure you know, NBC announced they are pulling the plug on this show on our show February 12. Here's the amazing part: that is the exact date that the Mayan calendar predicted we would go off the air.

"I have to tell you: The folks here at NBC don't handle these things well; they don't have a lot of tact," Leno said. "Like after they canceled the show, they told me if I put on ten pounds, I can get on 'The Biggest Loser.'"

Later on The Jay Leno Show, when guest Sandra Bullock, promoting The Blind Side, jokingly asked if her segment was going to air, Leno fired back, calling her “Miss Smart Ass."
David Letterman's name was not mentioned either despite the fact Letterman, during his broadcast Monday and again on Tuesday, took some jaw-dropping shots at Leno's chin, fondness for automobiles and persona in general.
