Finding Peace & Quiet in New York City

New York City supposedly never sleeps but for those who require a little shut eye, it's vital to find some slice of space where you can lay your head.
If you require a location near the hustle and bustle of one of the greatest cities in the world, but also want a place you can catch your breath, check out the Affinia Shelburne in the trendy Murray Hill neighborhood.
Its Lexington Avenue perch is a walk away from the best shopping and dining spots, but still maintains a cozy- if not quaint by New York standards- atmosphere.
As we entered our junior suite (after arriving at the hotel around 3 am, we were pleasantly surprised with the complimentary room upgrade!), we were taken aback by one rare element: the room had a balcony! Stepping out onto the small patio area, one gets a true vista of the skyline from the view of the East River to the majestic image of the Chrysler Building. Another fun tidbit? They have a Dream Pillow Menu that allows you a choice of six pillows to round out your relaxation. It's even better than home.
While the rooftop lounge was closed due to weather, one could easily imagine how charming it is in the summer with its tinkling lights and cozy tables nestled amidst the green shrubbery. Legend has it that Fred Astaire loved to play the rooftop's miniature golf course!
The boutique hotel also boasts prices friendly to any traveler with rooms starting below $200 and special packages tailored to your ideal experience.
