Charlie Sheen Called Denise Richards From Jail Christmas Day

As RadarOnline.com was the first to report Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen spent Christmas day in Jail in Aspen Colorado, following a domestic incident with his wife, Brooke Mueller.

But, despite his woeful circumstances he did find time to call his two daughters, Lola and Sam, not wanting the day to go by without calling and wishing them a happy Christmas, according to his ex-wife Denise Richards.

In her first interview since Charlie’s arrest, Richards sat down with Oprah Winfrey to talk about her ex-husband, spilling on their time together as well as their relationship now.

Richards says that Sheen called her home collect from jail on Christmas day to talk with his children, adding, “It’s sad. It’s a sad situation. Their dad was in jail on Christmas.” She went on to say that her daughter learned her father was in jail from one of the children in her kindergarten class.

Talking about her own tumultuous relationship with Sheen, Richards shared with Oprah, “I think that Charlie has a very sharp tongue. He played on my insecurities.” Going on to say that it was an abusive relationship, though verbally and not physically, “He never hit me,” she says.

She told Oprah that she was scared when she filed for divorce from Sheen while pregnant. "I was terrified and relieved that I had the courage to do it," she said. "Our daughters didn't ask to be born into our conflict. It was impossible to make our marriage work."

The good news for Richards and her daughters though is that she now gets on well with her ex-husband. Telling Oprah, "Charlie and I are in a good place now. It's taken a lot of work on our part."
