The graphic new drama Precious made $1.8 million at the box office this past weekend -- and while that may not seem impressive, it is.
The film opened in limit release - playing in only 18 theaters across the country. That means on average, Precious earned a staggering $100,000 per theater.
Precious -- based on the acclaimed novel Push by Sapphire -- follows the heartbreaking story of an overweight teenage girl in Harlem who suffers horrifying abuse at the hands of her parents.
