ABC and Dick Clark Productions released a statement on Monday regarding the strategic edits they made to both Adam Lambert and Jennifer Lopez's performance for the west coast feed of the American Music Awards.

"Due to the live nature of the show we did not expect the impromptu moment in question," ABC, Dick Clark Productions executives, and show producers said. "Regarding Jennifer Lopez, execs and producers felt it was respectful to Ms. Lopez to edit the mishap for later time zones."

In the middle of her dance routine, Lopez jumped off of a backup dancer and ended up landing on her butt rather than on her feet. In the west coast version, the fall was replaced by a slow motion view of her jumping off of the dancer's back.

Lambert's performance was considerably watered down for the west coast version. In the live feed, he simulated having oral sex with a backup dancer -- a scene later cut out. He also kissed a male keyboardist -- a move not expected by producers.
