Roman Polanski Promised His Rape Victim $500,000 Pay-Off

Newly uncovered court documents show that Roman Polanski agreed to pay Samantha Geimer $500,000 as settlement for his sexual attack on her. Polanski is now sitting in a Swiss jail, arrested last month on a decades-old warrant for fleeing the U.S. after he pleaded guilty but before he was sentenced in the 1977 assault case.
Geimer filed a civil case against the famed director in 1989, 12 years after he gave the then-13-year old Champagne and a Quaalude and forced her to have sex with him. It is unclear, however, if Polanski ever paid the agreed settlement. The court file ends three years after the settlement was reached, at which time Geimer's lawyers were still trying to collect the $500,000 plus an additional $100,000 in interest.

Polanski's lawyers are trying to get him released from jail and intend to fight his extradition back to the U.S.
