Accused Attacker Of Ryan Seacrest’s Security Guard To Face Judge

A Lakewood, California man is expected to enter his plea when he is arraigned on Friday, in connection with charges he nearly choked a security guard unconscious while trying to get into a car with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest.

Police said the incident took place after a charity event at Children's Hospital of Orange County in Orange, California. Chidi Benjamin Uzomah, Jr, 25, was arrested Thursday afternoon after he attacked a security guard who tried to stop him from getting into Seacrest's car, officials said.

The American Idol host never made direct contact with the would-be party-crasher.

"Ryan pulled away as the thing started," Sgt. Dan Adams of the Orange Police Department said. "He wasn't involved and didn't see anything."
Uzomah was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon or force likely to cause great bodily injury, and is being held on $25,000 bail, authorities said, adding Uzomah possessed an illegal switchblade, but did not use it during the incident.
