It was only a matter of time : Mattel has made Barbie dolls of Twilight's Edward and Bella (played by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart).
The dolls, which hit shelves November 1 are the quintessential piece for any Twilight, or Barbie, fan's collection. Heck, with the surging popularity of the vampire-themed multimedia juggernaut, baby A-listers Pattinson and Stewart, and must-have nature of collectibles, it wouldn't at all shock us to see these plastic treasures cause a Cabbage Patch Kids-like frenzy come their release date.
Hype aside, the craftsmanship on these Barbies is to die (or un-die) for. Click for gallery.
Sharon Zuckerman, Mattel's Barbie Collector Designer, explained what a thrill it was to work closely with Twilight series creator Stephenie Meyer in designing the dolls.
"Stephenie herself came to Mattel and art directed the look of the dolls," Zuckerman wrote in a press release. "She was integral in perfecting every detail as she really wanted Edward and Bella to embody the spirit of the characters that she envisioned while writing the series. We also had the ACTUAL costumes from the movie set that were used in the ‘Forever 17’ scene to help inspire the costumes for the dolls. It was an unforgettable experience and I hope TWILIGHT fans are just as excited about the dolls as I am!”
The dolls hit stores November 1, and retail for $24.95; the highly-anticipated second installment in the Twilight series, New Moon hits theatres this November.
