Not since Oprah Winfrey shed her jacket to show off massive weight loss 20 years ago has a television personalities' weight loss demonstration been so highly anticipated.
The View's Sherri Shepherd, 42, has been putting in the time -- including heavy dieting, workouts and even a painful bikini wax -- to complete the "Bathing Suit Challenge" (a promise she made in May to viewers she would to trim down to a summer body). Or, more aptly said by ABC the TV personality worked "with trainers, nutritionists, stylists, butchers, bakers and candlestick makers in order to work herself in to bathing suit shape."
And Thursday, we got to see the payoff: the pretty Shepherd (now a size 6) trotted out in a one-piece pink and black swimsuit, eliciting roars of approval from her onscreen colleagues and studio audience. Though no one will compare her to say, Mel B, Shepherd said she was satisfied with her modest progress.
"I wasn't trying to get to a crazy size," she said, "I was just trying to show you can wear a swimsuit" with some discipline and will power.
Her View Executive Producer, Bill Getty, rewarded Shepherd with immediate temptation: a table full of fatty foods such as spare ribs. Hey, she's earned it.
The View airs on ABC weekdays at 10 a.m.
