The sixth season of Project Runway, the cutthroat competition between aspiring designers, hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum and fashion guru Tim Gunn, debuted Thursday with an especially "mean girl" judging the would-be Ralph Laurens and Donna Karans -- tabloid queen Lindsay Lohan.

"She was absolutely wonderful," Gunn said of the actress, who looked healthy and sober on the panel. "She knows clothes, she knows what she likes, what she doesn't and she's able to articulate that."

More celebrities slated to appear in future episodes as guest judges include songstress Christina Aguilera and iconic designer Bob Mackie.

Like the ever-changing world of fashion, you might notice a few changes this season: The show has a new home network, Lifetime, and has moved 3000 miles, from New York to Los Angeles. The sixth season's competition is underscored by sizzling tension between the 17 designers, all aiming to win the show's career-making grand prize: a spread in Marie Claire magazine, a Parisian getaway and $100,000 to start a fashion line.

Project Runway airs Thursday on Lifetime at 10 p.m.
