INTERVIEW: DWTS Costumer Dishes On Getting Tom DeLay In Sparkles
Aug. 20 2009, Published 6:29 a.m. ET
On Dancing with the Stars costumer Randall Christensen's To Do list: 16 new celebs lined up to compete, $20,000 worth of fabric on order from Europe, fringe, beads, shaded silk, and over 2 million rhinestones in store for the season.
No wonder he calls this a "daunting task" in an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com Style.
While dancing queens and primetime hotties are old hat to Christensen by now, he's got one heck of a task in making a dancer out of former Republican House Majority Leader Tom DeLay.
When asked what Mr. DeLay will wear -- Christensen says, "that's The $64,000 Question!"
Although Christensen hasn't met DeLay yet, he indicated his partner will be returning pro Cheryl Burke, someone who is "going to want him to be competitive."
"Cheryl will push him to the max to go as daring as he will."
So, if Ms. Burke gets her way, we can all keep our fingers crossed to see Tom DeLay in something sparkly.

As an Emmy Award winning costumer and noted genius behind DWTS fashion, Randall explains that the "testosterone kicks in and the guys get really competitive after week 3 and want more rhinestones."
In regards to who in the cast will be stepping out in the shortest, skimpiest looks, Randall laughs, "Have you seen the cover of Maxim? Joanna Krupa is the most gorgeous creature."
When she came in to meet with him he had to stop her because, "everything she put on was perfect."
Even the costumer gets excited about dressing rocker-daughter Kelly Osbourne.
"She is the fun wild card. I can't wait to meet her." For her look we can expect to see "young, trendy, and edgy."
One thing is for sure -- conservative, sexpot or bad boy, by the end of the season all contestants will be beaded down and blinged out!
