A source tells ET that Brown's mother got very emotional and started to cry while talking to King.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, King was the first choice of Brown's handlers because his team believed the singer will be able to get his apology across without facing brutal questioning.
On Tuesday, a judge sentenced Brown to five years probation and 180 days of community labor service. He was also ordered to undergo weekly counseling for one year. In addition, he must abide by a protective order that restricts his contact with Rihanna until August 2014.
