Ashley Olsen: I’m Surprised I Didn’t End Up Like Britney

Having lived the controlled life of a starlet since she could barely walk (call times at 5 a.m., cross-country flights to movie shoots), Ashley Olsen is surprised she escaped much of the out of control aspects of fame.
“That’s why I look at Britney, and I’m surprised I didn’t end up like her,” Olsen told Marie Claire as she reflected about a life in the limelight.
She also opened up about her and sister Mary-Kate’s sense of style and the surprise over the initial furor they caused with their boho chic look from their college days complete with baggy pants and massive sunglasses.
“When we were going to NYU, I think that was the first time we were aware of the power of our personal style. Not the power of it, but the result of it. Between the big sunglasses and the Starbucks cup and the big sweaters, the hobo-chic thing, we were more shocked than anything," she remembers. Calling her family “very bohemian” she laughs at the thought of their own mother’s style, including her penchant for large sunglasses.
