The new fall season rolls on with some of its best and brightest new shows premiering tonight. NBC gets in on the nursing trend with their show Mercy about the trials and tribulations of nurses at a New Jersey hospital. Nurses include one played by Taylor Schilling who has just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq and a rookie learning the ropes played by Michelle Trachtenberg.
ABC has two new single camera comedies with lots of buzz. First up is Modern Family. It’s got a great cast (Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen) and the mockumentary set-up that’s worked so well for shows like The Office. In this series, the cameras follow the Pritchett family and their offbeat family values and antics.
Immediately after is Courteney Cox’s much anticipated return to comedy in Cougartown. She plays a recently divorced forty-something who is shocked to discover how much younger than her all the men in the dating pool seem to be!
And at 10pm, check out the new drama Eastwick starring Lindsay Price, Rebecca Romijn and Jamie Ray Newman as three New England woman who make a wish for their ho-hum lives to change. The result? A mystery man comes to town and helps them unleash their untapped powers. This Eastwick is of course based on the John Updike book that was also a movie in the 80s.
