The Lost Boys, Interview With The Vampire and Twilight were all huge box office hits which made millions, jump-started careers and brought vampire lore back into mainstream pop culture -- but they never had their own signature drink.
Alan Ball, the creator and executive producer of HBO's hit vampire-themed series, True Blood, unveiled the latest ingenious tool of cross-promotion at Comic-Con this past weekend: the Tru Blood beverage, a Orange-flavored soda with a crisp, slightly tart and lightly-sweet tang, designed to resemble the blood the show's vampires crave.
“From its first season, fans have been enamored with the show and have expressed a keen interest in the Tru Blood beverage,” James Costos, vice president of Licensing & Retail at HBO, told RadarOnline.com in a statement. “We’re extremely excited to be able to bring this original drink to life.”
And yes collectors, the bottle and designed to match those you see on the popular HBO show to the slightest detail.
The drink hits stores in September, and currently can be pre-ordered at www.HBO.com/store; you can also get more info about the drink at the Web site, Trubeverage.com.
And no, it doesn't go well with garlic.
