If Wayne, Garth, and even Pat could make the leap to the big screen, why not MacGruber?
The oft-featured MacGyver parody on Saturday Night Live is the latest SNL skit to become a major motion picture.
Reese Witherspoon's husband, Ryan Phillipe, is negotiating to have a role in the comedy, as is Val Kilmer. MacGruber regulars Will Forte and Kristen Wiig will also have roles in the film, the Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.
The original MacGyver, which starred Richard Dean Anderson, ran on ABC from 1985 until 1992; other successful film franchises that started out as SNL skits include Wayne's World, It’s Pat, The Coneheads and The Blues Brothers.
