Thousands of young fans were screaming in delight as they watched their hero Michael Jackson film a big budget Pepsi commercial in 1984. But their cheers turned to horror as Michael's hair and scalp were set ablaze by pyrotechnics gone awry.

RadarOnline.com has exclusively obtained these re-discovered photographs of Michael as he is whisked away from the scene in an ambulance. His head wrapped in protective bandages, Michael is still wearing his trademark glove and bravely tries to wave to worried spectators.

Michael suffered second and third degree burns to his face and scalp in the shocking incident. He was treated at Brotman Memorial Hospital where he later donated $1.5 million to establish the Michael Jackson Burn Center for Children.

Many Jackson associates have suggested that the drugs Michael was prescribed at the time of this horrible incident began his addiction to pain meds.
