Thousands of young fans were screaming in delight as they watched their hero Michael Jackson film a big budget Pepsi commercial in 1984. But their cheers turned to horror as Michael's hair and scalp were set ablaze by pyrotechnics gone awry.

Michael suffered second and third degree burns to his face and scalp in the shocking incident. He was treated at Brotman Memorial Hospital where he later donated $1.5 million to establish the Michael Jackson Burn Center for Children.
