Weekend Box Office: Will Ferrell's "Land of the Lost" Is Lost on Audiences

That big thud you're hearing is Will Ferrell's latest comedy, "Land of the Lost."
The $200 million remake of the 1970s TV show had a horrendously bad weekend opening, taking in only $19.5 in ticket sales; and it will be downhill from there next weekend.
Critics detested the film and it held little appeal for Ferrell's target young male audience.
Winning the ticket race was the animated "Up" in its second week.
The Pixar film had boffo reviews and even drew Jon Gosselin and his twins to a theater this weekend.
It took it an estimated $44.2 million.
The big winner of the weekend, however, is "The Hangover," the R-rated comedy about a Vegas bachelor party gone terribly wrong.
The Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis, in what may be the break-out performance of the year, the LOL flick took in an estimated $43.3 in ticket sales.
"Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" and "Star Trek" came in fourth and fifth respectively.
