VIDEO: Kimmel "Jokes" Over Jackson Death
June 26 2009, Published 7:45 a.m. ET
Given the time difference in taping, Jimmy Kimmel was the first late night chat show host to tackle Michael Jackson--choosing to make jokes rather than eulogize.
In a clip from his opening monologue, Kimmel expressed sympathy for "poor Farrah Fawcett," as he felt she "picked the wrong day to go."
Furthermore, Kimmel pointed out that the late Jackson's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was just outside his set on Hollywood Blvd, but unreachable at the time because of the red carpet premiere of Sacha Baron Cohen's new film Bruno.
Confused fans instead gathered around the star of Michael Jackson, the radio talk show host, laying flower on the piece of pavement and singing songs before it.
