Embattled actress Tatum O'Neal was spotted in New York City on Thursday, hailing a cab as she wiped away tears.

The past 24 hours must have been indescribable for the actress, losing her stepmother Farrah Fawcett and friend Michael Jackson in the same day.

"I am truly heartbroken of Farrah's passing," she said in a statement, "She was an inspiration to all women; an icon in her own right. She brought so much joy to millions and there are no words as to how much she will be missed."

O'Neal is the youngest person ever to win an Academy Award, at eight years old for her part in Paper Moon. She and Jackson became fast friends because of their stardom at such a young age.

Fawcett is survived by Tatum, her longtime partner Ryan O'Neal and their son Redmond.
