Demi Lovato said that working with John Mayer on her forthcoming album, Here We Go Again, was "a dream come true."
The Disney diva said Mayer (who had reached out to Lovato after hearing she was a fan of his) had a keen eye for detail.
"John Mayer's been a huge influence on me. His songwriting really inspires me," she told MTV. "You hear music that has the same chord progression, but what he does, he changes it up. There's little things that make him stand out."
The 16-year-old sounded star struck when discussing her musical colleague.
"I go straight from watching that DVD (Mayer's Where the Light Is) to watching him play my favorite songs in the studio for fun. It was right there," she said. "It was so cool." She also expressed admiration for the way he treated her like an equal and remarked at his trademark random humor and constant talking.
Lovato's Here We Go Again hits shelves July 9.
