UPDATE: The District Attorney has read the charges to Chris Brown.  Judge: "Do you understand what you have been charged with. What is your plea?"  Brown responds: "Guilty to assault" Judge tells Brown he will not go to prison - but could if he violates conditions of his parole. Judge asks: "Do you understand this?" Brown responds:  "Yes ma'am."

1:50PM PST:  Still no sign of Rihanna. Cameras are now being allowed in the courtroom. reversing an earlier decision that barred them.

1:46PM PST: Brown's mom is on the aisle in the courtroom wearing black leggings and a multi-colored top. Her eyes are glued on Chris. She is diagonal to where Brown is seated at defense/counsel table with his attorney Mark Geragos. The judge is still not on bench.

1:44pm PST:  Our reporter on the scene reports that five deputies in uniform are in the courtroom. The Sheriff is standing behind Brown. Brown's attorney Mark Geragos is talking to Chris, his arm around him.

1:40PM PST: Brown just arrived inside the  courtroom, his mom and family and friends are in two rows on right side of courtroom.

1:26PM PST: Chris Brown --wearing a gray suit with white shirt and tie -- has arrived at the courtroom, accompanied by his attorney Mark Geragos.

1:16PM PST: Rihanna's attorney Donald Etra has just arrived at the courthouse in Los Angeles -- Rihanna was NOT with him.

Etra told our reporter on the scene that Rihanna was prepared to testify.
