Responding to a high-tech game of telephone that Dirty Dancing heartthrob Patrick Swayze died Tuesday, The View's Whoopi Goldberg, a friend and colleague of the actor, said such reports are untrue Wednesday.
"Patrick Swayze is alive and well, child," she said.
Goldberg, along with View cast-mate Barbara Walters, described the chain of miscommunication in the erroneous reports, starting from a Jacksonville, Fla. radio station, to a German TV news report to a Twitter message. Then, they pulled out a picture of the recovering actor taken last week. The picture shows a smiling, cowboy-hat clad Swayze in a posed shot with his wife, Lisa Niemi.
