A day after the news broke that Victoria Principal was getting sued by a maid who claims she threatened her with a gun, the actress is fighting back with her version of the story in papers filed Tuesday morning in Santa Monica.
Maid Says Victoria Principal Held Her at Gunpoint
According to the lawsuit, Principal admits to pointing a gun at Maribel Banegas but only after the maid became enraged after being fired, struck another maid and then grabbed Principal’s dog before leaving the house. Banegas returned with the dog later that day in such a way that the animal was apparently wheezing and nearly choking from the force of the taut leash.
*NEW GRAFS: “After being notified...that she was being terminated following two days of temporary employment as a housekeeper,” the papers said. “Banegas engaged in outrageous, threatening and violent conduct which put Principal and her full-time permanent housekeeper, Ms. Sandra Ferrior, in fear for the safety and well-being of their persons and property.”
“Banegas is a formidable figure, being almost six feet tall and weighing over 160 pounds,” the papers continued. “Out of concern for her own safety, as well as that of Ferrior and her dog, under the guise that she was going to get Banegas money, Principal went upstairs to her bedroom and retrieved a handgun of which Principal was in legal possession.”
Even after Principal pointed her gun at her, Banegas was apparently “undeterred” and “continued to pound the kitchen counter and shout.” The situation finally ended after Principal called 911 once Banegas locked herself in a guest house and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies subdued her and removed her from the property.
