After much hype, Rihanna’s upcoming concert in the United Arab Emirates has been axed by her handlers. Vibe Events Management Agency, the Dubai-based company that was organizing the event, announced Sunday that Rihanna’s camp has nixed the concert “as it is not appropriate.”
Rihanna’s ex-boyfriend Chris Brown is currently facing two felony charges after allegedly assaulting the singer on February 8. Since the incident, Rihanna has stayed out of the public eye.

The UAE gig, slated for May 28, was expected to draw as many as 20,000 fans from the region. “This is very sad for us that at this time the concert will not happen,” Vibe Events Manager Leela McNamara said in a statement.
But despite the setback, organizers in the region remain hopeful that they’ll be able to bring the Umbrella singer to the UAE in the future. Said McNamara: “We will not give up.” (Photo: Splash News)
