Redmond O'Neal -- the troubled son of actor Ryan O'Neal and the ailing Farrah Fawcett -- has a date with a judge Friday morning.

O'Neal is scheduled to appear in court in Santa Clarita, California at 8:30 a.m. PST.  At that time, a judge will set a date for his preliminary hearing. O'Neal is charged with felony drug possession in connection with an April 5 incident in which he allegedly brought drugs onto the grounds of a Los Angeles County jail. The 24-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges April 29.

O'Neal was recently relocated from LA's Twin Towers Correctional Facility to the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, Calif. He is slated to begin lockdown drug treatment in connection with a pair of drug-related infractions last year. Officials said, if O'Neal shows progress, he could be relocated to a live-in facility rehab program in a few months.

In an interview last week, Ryan O'Neal said he didn't think Fawcett would be alive by the time Redmond had finished his respective sentences. (Photo: WENN)
