Vogue Editrix Anna Wintour thought she was going to the 92nd Street Y in New York last night to speak with Jonathan Tisch on the "cultural impact" of American Vogue. The tone of the event quickly changed when it was disrupted by two anti-fur activists addressing their concerns for Anna's ethical impact --  essentially, her fur promotion.  Where Anna goes, animal rights group PETA is not far to follow.

One fur foe unfurled a banner from the balcony reading, "Anna Wintour: Fur Shame."

A second activist addressed the audience and said "this woman is contributing to the suffering of millions of animals every year through her continued endorsement of the fur industry..."

More activists began shouting "Fur Shame" until they were removed by security.

In a release this morning, PETA Senior Vice President Dan Matthews says, "Hopefully Wintour's days as the editor of Vogue are as numbered as those of a mink on a fur farm." MEOW!

Have no fear, there is still a lot of support for Anna in the fashion community.  During the chaos, a member of last night's audience yelled out, "I love you, Anna!"

Anna is fur-tastic at times, but last night was a fur-tragic experience for sure! But she indicated to audiences that as long as fur is still fashion, Vogue will cover it!

FYI: According to the rest of Wintour's talk, there are currently no plans on turning Vogue into a recessionista magazine! Praise Chanel and Louboutin!
