McDreamy Is Buying a McMansion

Patrick Dempsey and his wife Jill Fink are trying to take advantage of the depressed real estate market.
The Grey's Anatomy star is said to be in the process of buying an estate is L.A.'s Brentwood area for a cool $6,495,000.
But what's even cooler about the transaction is that the spec property was originally marketed at $8,950,000 -- almost $2.5 million more than the listing price that attracted the Dempseys attention.
So what is the couple getting for their money?
How about a newly-built (the previous home on the prime acre was torn down) 5 bedroom, 3,800 sq ft New England-style home with separate guest quarters.
The master bedroom has a romantic fire place, as does the large patio perfect for entertaining Patrick's Grey's costars after they dry off from a dip in the pool.
Of course, there is also a down-side to the real estate slow-down.
The Dempseys are still trying to unload their smaller home in nearby Bel Air.
That house was originally listed at $3,595,000 and was recently reduced to $3,295,000.
Reps for Dempsey and the Realtor handling the house declined to comment.
