Superstar Madonna and her Brazilian ‘toy-boy’ lover Jesus Luz are free to take part in a Kabbalah ‘commitment ceremony’ , even although the model has just started to learn about the mysterious religion, Radaronline.com has learned.
The model’s Brazilian father , Luiz Heitor Pinto Da Luz , has confirmed that the lovebirds – who share a 28-years age difference – are considering the alternative wedding ceremony.
Los Angeles Kabbalah member Sarah Munis said: “It is possible for a couple to have a Kabbalah ‘commitment ceremony’ if one person is a dedicated and committed Kabbalaist and there partner is not.”
Madonna has reportedly donated millions of dollars to Kabbalah in recent times and both she and Luz have been spotted leaving the New York Kabbalah Center several times this year.
On the official Kabbalah website, there is currently a link to Madonna’s Raising Malawi Charity which aims to help impoverished children in Africa.
Although there is some debate to how legal a Kabbalah ‘commitment ceremony’ actually is, Sarah Munis explains that it is similar to traditional weddings in many respects.
She told Radaronline.com: “It is similar to a Jewish wedding in that the man and woman both exchange rings and vows under a Rabbi’s guidance. The ceremony takes place under a Hupa - which is like a tent supported by four poles and afterwards they break glass to celebrate. The couple is allowed to become intimate after the initial ceremony but they do have to enter a seven day period where they take traditional prayers before everything becomes formal. The woman usually wears white like in a conventional wedding and the groom will dress appropriately too. There are celebrations afterwards with Kosher food but the only difference is that everything usually stays on site at one of our Kabbalah centers. I have attended several commitment ceremonies and I actually prefer them to traditional weddings because they are ‘more fun and light.”
One of Madonna’s Kabbalah teachers Rabbi Robert Berg – who is based at the Los Angeles Kabbalah Center – has taken dozens of ‘commitment ceremonies’ and he could be the Rabbi that the star and her young lover want for their ceremony.
The pair met after they took part in a fashion shoot in Brazil in December 2008 with famed photographer Steven Klein.
Madonna’s eight year marriage to Guy Ritchie ended last year, and their decree nisi came through in November.
