Goodbye, Vancouver. The New Moon cast and crew is heading to the tiny town of Montepulciano, Italy, and RadarOnline.com is giving you a sneak peak of the idyllic locale.
With a population of only 14,000, residents are sure to spot vampires and werewolves in their midst during the film’s four-day shoot which begins next Tuesday since the town barely has any cars. Running into Robert Pattinson on some romantic, cobble-stoned street? Sign us up!
Montepulciano also has a major role in the film as Volterra, the ancient Italian city where the Volturi reside.
Off-screen, the hillside Tuscan town’s claim to fame is its food and wine. This includes the local spin on spaghetti, which is a thicker version of the pasta they call “pici.” Montepulciano, which was founded in the 1500s, is also full of beautiful cathedrals, churches and architecture.
The locals will even have a chance to log some on-screen time as background immortals. The town’s official Web site announced that auditions for extras are being held at the City Fortress every day until this Friday.
