IDOL: Adam Lambert - The "One" To Beat; Just Ask U2
May 13 2009, Published 7:00 a.m. ET
The Adam Lambert bandwagon just keeps growing.
On American Idol Tuesday night, the final three competitors were required to sing two songs: one of the judges' choosing, one of their own.
Simon Cowell, choosing U2's anthem One for Lambert to sing, said he personally had to call the band's lead singer, Bono to approve. The U2 front man said it would be a pleasure, according to Cowell.
And of course, Lambert delivered a masterful rendition of the 1992 song, hitting some of the highest notes ever heard in the show's eight seasons. The judges and audience, as always, gushed over Lambert's performance.
