Ever since the first issue of Action Comics in 1938, when one of Superman's nemeses pulled a gun and was warned, "Put that toy away!", comic book characters have been dispensing all kinds of wisdom, warnings, and practical advice.
These days, when all the attention is on big-budget movies like Wolverine and The Dark Knight, it's fun to go back to the source -- comic books -- to check out some fantastic quotes that are well-known...and some that are not. Our resident comic book expert Jeff Rovin, author of The Encyclopedia of Superheroes, provides a list of what he consider the 20 greatest lines ever uttered by comic book characters. Some of these characters are well known, and some you've probably never heard of, unless you're as big a fanatic as our expert.
