Flanked by her bodyguard and rumored beau Steve Neild, Jon and Kate Plus 8's Kate Gosselin made an appearance at the Frauenthal Theater in Muskegon, Mich., on Wednesday night. A rep for the theatre gave RadarOnline.com the true story about what occurred- from the supposed incident between Neild and a fan, Gosselin's interaction with her bodyguard, and how the troubled mom really acted.

"I think-and this is just my point of view-that this was a very tough performance for her to do. It was the first since these articles about the Gosselin's marriage troubles have come out," the rep Linda Medema said.  "After the performance, she seemed much more relaxed."

Speaking in front of nearly 900 people, Gosselin "seemed nervous" in the beginning of her talk during which she briefly touched on her current marital problems. Still, Medema believes Gosselin was "very polite and very cordial."

As for the reported incident during which Neild pushed a way an approaching fan, Medema (who was present throughout Gosselin's visit) did not see any altercation though  she did mention the theatre's security was tighter than usual.

"If it did happen, it's being blown out of proportion...I think there has to be a protocol. Fans can just get a little over-exuberant. It was just to give her space," she explained.

While there have been rumors circulating that Gosselin is romantically involved with her bodyguard, Medena said the interaction between Gosselin and Neild "was very professional."

"There's a job that he has to do. We showed him the whole facility when they got here. He just wanted to make sure the areas were secured."
