It was bound to happen sooner or later. Grammy-winning superstar Christina Aguilera is following in the footsteps of her other leading songstresses by taking on a major movie role. She is set to star in the contemporary musical Burlesque which begins filming later in the year.
In the film, she will play a smalltown girl (who can sing of course!) who realizes her dreams at a Los Angeles neo-burlesque nightclub.

The film has a good amount of film street credibility behind it according to Variety. The script was revised by Erin Brockovich writer Susannah Grant and Screen Gems, the studio behind the film, just put out Beyonce’s thriller Obsessed.
