Though the State Supreme Court in California upheld a proposition to prohibit same-sex marriage today, they've also protected some 18,000 gay couples who were wed before the ban was voted through last November.
As CA is home to Hollywood, those marriages protected include some serious bold names. Check out photos of the famous same-sex marriages saved.
Stars like Ellen Degeneres and Portia DeRossi tied the knot at the daytime host's Beverly Hills abode last August, and will still legally call one another wife.
Degeneres reacted to today's ruling via Twitter, saying, "I'm sure you heard the prop 8 news. One day when everyone is treated with full equality, we'll look back and realize how wrong this was."
Similarly, flagship gay marriage pair Rosie O'Donnell and wife Kelly Carpenter got hitched in San Francisco's City Hall in 2004, after SF mayor Gavin Newsom started issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
