Explosive new details are emerging after a judge denied Madonna's bid to adopt a second Malawian orphan.
The shattered singer - who had been told by government officials that three-year-old Mercy James was "definitely hers" - reportedly shrieked in horror after her lawyer broke the devastating news according to the UK Sun.
Madonna, sat motionless before "furiously storming off" to her room at the lodge where she had been staying in the African country.
One worker there said: "She seemed in emotional agony. "
"We couldn't tell if she was crying, but her daughter Lourdes ran and put her arms round her." Madonna reportedly said to her lawyer, 'This is the worst day of my life'.
"She yelled at him, 'What went wrong? How could this happen'? He was staring at the ground."

Malawian Judge Esme Chombo rejected Madonna's adoption bid on the grounds she is NOT a resident there.
And she launched a stinging attack on high-profile celebrities who jet into poverty-stricken countries to adopt children.
The head of the orphanage where Mercy will today return said the ruling would be "like a dagger in Madonna's heart".
And she revealed the excited little girl's first word when she saw Madonna was "Mummy".
The singer's other children - Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and adopted David, three - had all reportedly bonded with Mercy.
The ruling was made public after a private High Court hearing in the capital Lilongwe. In it, the judge said Madonna had not obeyed adoption
rules saying she must live there for at least 18 months.
The residency issue was waived when Madonna took son David home from Malawi in 2006.
