He has boldly gone where no man has gone before. He has fought Klingons, Romulans and found romance with countless alien females.
But William Shatner, considered by purists as THE Captain James T. Kirk is nowhere to be found in the new Star Trek movie that premieres Thursday night in Los Angeles. Instead movie goers will see Chris Pine starring as a young Kirk, while Paramount tries to reinvigorate the 43-year-old franchise with director J.J. Abrams.

“I’m sure we can look forward to many more iterations of the beloved franchise. And who knows? Perhaps the old Kirk will meet the new Kirk."
