The first woman who reported a frightening run-in with accused Craigslist killer Phillip Markoff is breaking her silence.
Trisha Leffler, who has been arrested on multiple prostitution counts in the past, tells CBS that an ad she placed on Craigslist led to the horrifying encounter.
She told police she was bound and gagged by the medical student-turned-murder suspect in a Boston Hotel, just four days prior to the fatal shooting of another woman advertising her services via the Web site.
Leffler said she met Markoff by the hotel elevator in what was supposed to be a $200 appointment for the hour, describing him as "a tall, a good looking guy ."
She said that once the were in close quarters alone, Markoff pulled out his gun, bound and gagged her with plastic zip cords and began rifling through her possessions. She said he took $800 and credit cards from her -- along with a pair of her panties that were lying on the ground.
Leffler said police took her report seriously, and she was eventually able to identify him via the clothes he was wearing the day of the incident. She said they told her, of Markoff : "There was a girl murdered there last night, and we think this is the same guy. He's used the same M.O. She was tied up with plastic zip cords."
"My heart just dropped," Leffler said.
