Miley Tops Easter Box Office

Miley Cyrus has proved the critics wrong, topping the box office with her new film Hannah Montana: The Movie. The big screen version of her popular Disney show grossed $34 million to make it the biggest Easter Weekend family movie of all time. It also had the biggest opening day for a G-rated live-action film.
The holiday weekend typically has weak box office returns but that history was no match for the teen and her clearly devoted following. The flick kicked off last week’s chart topper Fast and the Furious into the second spot while Monsters vs. Aliens, Observe and Report, and Knowing rounded out the top five.
