Turning away from the bright lights of Hollywood (he withdrew his nomination from the past weekend’s Kids’ Choice Awards), Chris Brown has once again been taking solace in his home state of Virginia. On Tuesday night, he visited a pal at the University of Mary Washington, stopping by the gym to shoot some hoops- all during White Ribbon Week which focuses on men ending men’s violence on women.

“Chris Brown was at the gym as a guest of another student during open gym time,” Marty Morrison, assistant director of news and public information tells RadarOnline.com. “He wasn’t practicing with the team. He just on campus to visit a friend and was not invited by the University.”
Aaron Cohen, an onlooker at the gym, ran to the scene after a friend called to say Brown was there. “He didn’t look nervous and he wasn’t really paying attention to everyone watching him, he acknowledged people were there but he seemed normal. He was there for like two hours,” Cohen tells RadarOnline.com. “He plays basketball good but he was missing every shot.”

A little before 10 p.m., Brown exited the gym with some friends and was gracious to his waiting fans. “He came out and we said Chris, and he said ‘Hey,’ and we asked if we could take a picture and he said, ‘Yeah, sure.’ The bodyguard took the picture of us with him and he said ‘Thanks, guys’ and got in his car and left,” Cohen adds.
While the gym was packed with curious fans and passerbys, the talk of the crowd was less on Brown’s legal woes and more on his looks. “A lot of the people were saying he sucks at basketball, he’s not as muscular as we thought, and that he had skinny legs. The girls were saying he was hot and a lot of them were calling their friends telling them that Chris was there.”
Brown faces an arraignment scheduled on April 6 regarding the February 8 incident during which he allegedly assaulted girlfriend Rihanna.
