Exclusive Interview: Dr. Drew on Fame, Obama & Octo-Mom
April 1 2009, Published 8:05 a.m. ET
Dr. Drew Pinsky has a message for President Obama: sure, everybody loves you now, but watch out!
The board certified addiction specialist and star of the VH-1 hit series Celebrity Rehab told RadarOnline.com that fame is beyond fleeting, it's a sure-fire way to be attacked by society.
In his new book The Mirror Effect, How Celebrity Narcissism is Seducing America Dr. Drew says society has become increasingly narcissistic. " One of the things narcissists do is gather together and build idols, and bask in the narcissistic glow," he said.
"But when the idol disappoints or people become envious of the idol, or they makes us feel diminished by what they have, people tear them down and sacrifice them. We are in a continual cycle of elevation and cutting things down."
Octo-Mom, Anna Nicole Smith and President Obama get special mentions by the doc. (He has not treated any of them.)
About Octo-Mom he told RadarOnline.com: "You never hear anybody talk about Octo-mom's borderline personality disorder. Instead it's how crazy she is, and that needs to change."

Ok, good point doc.
About Anna Nicole, he told us: ""We have struck a very negative tone as a result of our own envy. We sit around and judgment and watch with disdain as this woman dies. That says more about us than anything."
And his warning to the Prez: "I loathe to think what will happen to Barack Obama if he disappoints people in any way. He has been carefully elevated to a lofty status and he will soon be taken down by this same problem."
